aga ujma is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter living between London, Central Java and Poland. she mixes her classical upbringing and folk influences from Poland with music studies at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Surakarta, Indonesia.
her solo performances focus on exploring and connecting Indonesian and Polish folk music with personal stories and the accompaniment of unique Indonesian instruments. her favourite instruments are East Indonesian bamboo zither sasando, Central Javanese zither siter and metallophone gendér.
she collaborated with numerous experimental composers from Indonesia, Mexico and Los Angeles, sang for London's Southbank Gamelan Players group, performed at Lanjong Art Festival 2017 in South Borneo, British Academy Awards 2017, Tate Modern Exchange 2018, International Gamelan Festival 2018 in Surakarta (Central Java), Indonesia Kontemporer London 2018 to name a few.
